Client: Bromley Hospitals NHS Trust
Location: Kent
Sector: Health
When Bromley Hospitals NHS Trust decided to rebuild Beckenham Hospital, their builders Balfour Beatty chose Elliott Modular to supply a two storey decant facility, to be located close to the hospital in adjacent park land.
However, because of the location of several large and mature trees in the park, the footprint of the modular building had to be carefully designed to fit the available space. Fortunately, the modular system allows for total flexibility and several layouts were produced before the Trust chose their final version.
The ground floor comprises a Reception Area, Pharmacy, Genito Urinary, Physiotherapy and Phlebotomy departments and the first floor accommodation includes a Health Development, Speech Therapy and Minor Treatment departments as well as a large Meeting Room suite.
“It is important for the smooth running of the hospital to keep all the facilities on site so modular buildings were the more sensible option available. The Elliott Group were able to meet the space requirements in a congested and unusual shaped site
The decant village was up and running by Summer 2005, allowing the rest of the construction to continue.”
